Part-Time Paid Research Assistant/ Research Associate Position

Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Digital Twin & 3D Simulation

The Acadia AIoT Research Hub (AARH) at Acadia University is seeking highly motivated Graduate and Undergraduate Research Assistants/Associates to join an exciting research and development project focused on Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Digital Twins, Artificial Intelligence, and 3D Graphics Simulation.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of next-generation immersive environments, AI-assisted digital twins, and WebVR applications for real-world industrial and cultural heritage project.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop immersive VR and AR applications using Unity 3D.
  • Create interactive 3D simulations and virtual environments.
  • Develop graphical interfaces and user interactions for immersive experiences.
  • Integrate AI and computer vision techniques into VR/AR applications.
  • Develop and test WebXR/WebGL applications for browser-based VR experiences.
  • Assist in implementing object recognition, spatial mapping, and digital storytelling.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and industry partners.
  • Prepare technical documentation and contribute to research publications.

Required Qualifications

  • Unity 3D and C#
  • VR/AR development
  • 3D graphics programming and visualization
  • Digital Twin technologies
  • Blender or other 3D modelling software
  • Computer graphics and animation
  • Game development or simulation
  • WebXR, WebGL, or Three.js
  • Computer Vision fundamentals
  • Python programming
  • Git/GitHub version control
  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • AI and Machine Learning
  • PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • NeRF (Neural Radiance Fields)
  • Gaussian Splatting
  • COLMAP or photogrammetry
  • OpenCV
  • ROS
  • Unreal Engine
  • Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, or other XR platforms
  • Research experience and publications

Needed Educational Background

Undergraduate or Graduate students from Computer Science, Software Engineering,

Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Interactive Media, Digital Arts, Game

Development, or closely related disciplines.
